Australian Exchange
Since 1998, our school has enjoyed a student exchange with two Australian schools, Frankston and Melbourne Girls Colleges. This exchange saw three learners doing their Grade 11 at these schools respectively on a fully sponsored scholarship, thanks to the generosity extended to us by the Heads of the two schools and Mrs. Kondowe our school headmistress.
The exchange entails learners being student ambassadors visiting and giving speeches when required to do so in the student forums in Australia. They also get an opportunity to start online collaboration with the learners world wide which they are expected to continue on their return to school the following academic year. The expectations on the learners on their return is to run series of workshops in which they share their international experience with our learners.
We have seen the effectiveness of this exchange programme on the results of their feddback forums wherein learners perform some community based work. The collaboration they have with the other schools worldwide also plays a major role in widening the international partnership as to date it has extended to schools in China, Japan, UK where our learners get to exchange some cultural and educational ideas with those in the countries mentioned.
UK Connection
In 2002, we had an opportunity to collaborate with a school in United Kingdom on the World Sustainable Development Programme. To this end, two of our educators Mrs. LM Matlhoko and Ms. T Ngwenya together with 6 learners visited UK in an exchange programme. The same group also took part in the World Summit on Sustainable Development that took part in Durban, South Africa.
It is through this participation that the face of our school surrounding took a positive change. The awareness of taking care of the environment and the surrounding became the order of the day and every learner, educator and parent associated with the school became part of this initiative and we still see the results of this exchange programme even to date.
